We are happy to reveal Clash of the Cards 2nd Edition! Ten years ago, Blue Wasatch Games didn't exist. There was just a card game, a Kickstarter page, and a couple founders who had no idea what they were getting into.
That game was Clash of the Cards. It funded in early 2016, and everything this company has become since then grew out of it. Every title we've published, every retail shelf we've earned our way onto, every lesson we learned the hard way about manufacturing and freight and what actually makes a game fun at a table full of people who have never played it before. All of it traces back to that first box.
Today, Clash of the Cards 2nd Edition launched at Barnes & Noble nationwide.
Why Rework It at All
The honest answer is that we're better at this now and Barnes and Noble was willing to take a chance with us. In the 2nd edition we changed the following:
- A completely reworked artstyle with a true Artist (Mofei Wang)! Back in 2016 we did all of the design (except for the characters which we paid an artist $55 for) ourselves and it shows. The characters were truly the best part of the game, so in this version we enhanced every aspect that made it fun in the first place.
- Brand new box
- Completely reworked rules and theming
- Fixed a few gameplay issues that have come up over the last 10 years that some awesome players brought to our attention over the years.
We didn't want to just reprint it. If we were going to put this game back into the world, it had to be this version as we would design today.
